Latin Mass to Highlight Congregacion del Santisimo Nombre del Nino Jesus Anniversary
The Congregacion del Santisimo Nombre del Nino Jesus will celebrate its 29th Founding Anniversary on October 26, 2008. A thanksgiving Mass in the Traditional Latin Rite will be held at the Sto. Nino de Violago Chapel at the Waltermart Compound in E. Rodriguez Ave. Q.C. with Rev. Fr. JoMichell Zerrudo as celebrant. The Mass will be held at 9AM with a rendition of the Missa de Angelis Gregorian Chant. Longtime exhibitors and hermanos mayores are invited to witness the occasion and some will be given recognition for their years of supporting the Congregacion.The newly elected board members and officers will be taking their oath of office while other members of the Congregacion will be making their renewal of commitment at the said event. The Congregacion is headed by President Mel Chionglo, Vice-President Nolie Hans, Secretary Bob de Castro and Treasurer Jing Chua. The new Chairman of the board is Ricky Miranda with Mr. Ben Farrales as the Founding Chairman. Everyone is invited to witness and celebrate the occasion.On October 19, a week before the anniversary celebration, a special 9AM Mass will be held at the same chapel for the acceptance and renewal of new and old members of the different ministries serving at the Chapel. These ministries include the choir, the altar servers, the auxiliaries (ushers/usherettes), the lectors, commentators and eucharistic ministers. This will also be the first time that male auxiliaries have been accepted in the ministry of hospitality. Celebrant is Rev. Fr. Bel San Luis, S.V.D. assisted by the Youth Choir of St. Joseph's College.

The "Nombre", Patron of the Congregacion

The Congregacion del Santisimo Nombre del Nino Jesus, a Catholic group of lay devotees of the Holy Child Jesus honoring His Most Holy Name based in the Philippines. This group welcomes all devotees of Our Lord Jesus Christ honoring His Holy Childhood and His Most Holy Name. The "Congregacion del Santisimo Nombre del Nino Jesus" was formed August 15, 1979 with 12 founding members who are mostly artists and an off-shoot independent-group of the Malolos Sto. Nino devotees. It was formally established on October 27, 1979 with the guidance of Caremlite nuns and with the blessings of the late Jaime Cardinal L. Sin. In its care now is a beautiful rococo-baroque chapel at the Violago compound in Quezon City where the titular image of its Patron "The Nombre" is enshrined including a replica of the Infant of Prague given by the Carmelite Fathers of Prague. It is also home to Our Lady of Victories of Prague. A special Novena-Mass is held in the Nombre's honor every Monday at 6:30PM. Masses are also held Wednesdays, 1st Fridays and Sundays also at 6:30PM. Having celebrated in 2004 its Silver Anniversary, the Congre continues to promote devotion to the Nombre and holds several apostolate-activities enriching people's spiritual values and piety through exhibits of various Nino depictions held every January climaxed with a grand 5-hour procession cul,inating at the Luneta Grandstand. The Congre is also involved in various charitable works, promoting the spiritual and corporal works of mercy. The Congre also conducts pilgrimages to various Catholic spiritual sites and centers in and outside the country. Anniversary celebrations are held yearly at the end of October and the Congre now has more than 30 members in its roster coming from various professions, disciplines and expertise.
